Hands up if you have an opinion on your child’s school? Yes, thought so.

Sharing your parents-eye view on a school is a great way for other parents to make choices about their child’s next steps in education.

Every school has a Parent Reviews section where parents can:

Summarise their opinion of the school in the review title
Write a fair review
Give the school a star rating

School Guide’s Head of Mathematics then calculates an average star rating for the reviews published on each school.

Parent ratings, based on personal experience and opinion, are completely separate from our unique School Guide star ratings, which are based 100% on official performance data. School Guide star ratings are never influenced by parent reviews.

The most helpful reviews are fair and include some context. For example: ‘I am a parent of a child at this school in Year 7 and in my opinion..."

We have fair review guidelines and reviews are strictly moderated by our parent review Prefects.

Comments that are unhelpful or cannot be verified by our team will not published.

Lines may be handed out to anyone who misbehaves or uses language that would make the school Matron blush.

Review guidelines

Do explain who you are and your relationship to the school e.g. ‘I am a parent…’
Do back up your opinion with examples or clear reasons but, remember, it’s your opinion not fact.
Don’t use bad or aggressive language.
Don't go in to detail about specific staff or pupils. Individual complaints should be directed to the school.
Do go to the relevant authority is you have concerns about a serious issue such as bullying, drug abuse or bad management.
