Special schools provide a unique and distinctive educational environment to meet the needs of the pupils in their community. Undertaking standard tests may not be appropriate and we do not show performance data for special schools.

Old Hall is a happy school. Staff go the extra mile to care for the pupils. A comment made by a parent was echoed by many others: ‘It is a warm and welcoming environment for children to thrive.’ At the start of every day, staff remind pupils about people in school who can help them. Pupils learn about safe and unsafe relationships and when to say no. Bullying does not worry pupils. If pupils are unkind to each other, leaders deal with it quickly and effectively. As a result, pupils are happy in school. Staff successfully teach pupils how to manage their emotions. They know their pupils well. Staff are quick to notice if a pupil is becoming agitated. Staff take effective action to resettle them back to their learning. Consequently, lessons run smoothly. Leaders are ambitious and passionate for what pupils can achieve. They want pupils to learn to the best of their ability and learn the life skills they need to be successful in the future. Pupils respond well to these expectations. They persevere in their learning and take on responsibilities in school. These include being a member of the school council or a class monitor. Pupils value these opportunities.

2015 GCSE RESULTSImportant information for parents
Due to number of reforms to GSCE reporting introduced by the government in 2014, such as the exclusion of iGCSE examination results, the official school performance data may not accurately report a school’s full results. For more information, please see About and refer to the section, ‘Why does a school show 0% on its GSCE data dial? In many affected cases, the Average Point Score will also display LOW SCORE as points for iGCSEs and resits are not included.
Schools can upload their full GCSE results by registering for a School Noticeboard. All school results data will be verified.
